Gretchen McCloy (b. 2001) is a ceramicist working and residing in St. Petersburg, Florida. McCloy's work is concerned with everyday objects, domesticity, and functionality of vessels. Their  work resides in the permanent collection of cabinets, hands, and homes around the United States. All pieces are made by hand using the language of hand building techniques, such as slabs, coils, and pinching. Through the creation of utilitarian wares that requires touch and continual use, McCloy hopes to create memorable moments of routine and ritual between the ware and the user. They strive for their work to adorn the home of the everyday person, with each piece being unique, no two made the same.
